Viagra Super Active: sildenafil in a gel capsule

Why does a gel capsule behave differently?

With a compressed tablet, the first thing that has to happen is disintegration — the tablet breaking up — followed by dissolution of the powder into stomach fluid. Only dissolved material can be absorbed.

Those two steps take a variable amount of time, and they are where stomach contents and individual differences have their effect.

In a soft gel capsule the active ingredient is already dissolved in a liquid carrier. The shell opens and the contents are immediately available.

The practical consequences: a somewhat faster onset, and a more consistent result between occasions.

Who finds this format worth it

• People who have found standard tablets unpredictable from one time to the next
• Anyone who dislikes swallowing a dry tablet
• Those who want less dependence on getting the meal timing right
• People who want a shorter wait after taking it

Consistency is the thing people value most here. An unreliable result breeds anxiety, and anxiety makes the underlying problem worse. A format that behaves the same way each time removes one variable from that loop.

Taking it

• Swallow the capsule whole with water.
• Do not pierce or open it.
• Around twenty to thirty minutes beforehand.
• Once in twenty-four hours, no more.
• Avoid a very heavy, fatty meal beforehand.
• Keep alcohol modest.

Food affects this format less than it affects a standard tablet, but a large fatty meal still slows things.

Storing it properly

Worth a mention, since soft gel capsules are more sensitive than pressed tablets.

Heat softens the shell. Humidity affects it too. A capsule left in a hot car or a steamy bathroom can deform or stick.

Keep them cool, dry, in the original packaging, and out of the bathroom cabinet.

What the active ingredient does

Arousal releases nitric oxide in the erectile tissue. That triggers a messenger molecule which relaxes the smooth muscle of the small arteries there.

Blood flows in, the engorged tissue presses on the draining veins, and the blood stays. That is the erection.

PDE5 is the enzyme that breaks down the messenger and ends it.

Sildenafil blocks PDE5, so the messenger lasts longer and the state is maintained.

Arousal is still required. No arousal, no nitric oxide, nothing to maintain.

Nitrates: the one hard stop

This is the single line on the page with no room for interpretation.

Glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, nicorandil — anything taken for angina. Including the spray carried in a pocket for emergencies.

Together they can drop blood pressure to a dangerous level. Not mild dizziness. Circulatory collapse.

The same applies to amyl nitrite used recreationally, sold as poppers. That combination reaches emergency departments more often than anyone admits.

If you take anything in that group, this is out. No exceptions, no leaving a gap, no trying half a tablet.

Who should not take it

• Recent heart attack or stroke
• Unstable angina or chest pain on mild exertion
• Severe heart failure
• Uncontrolled high blood pressure, or markedly low blood pressure
• Severe liver or kidney disease
• Retinitis pigmentosa
• Previous sudden vision loss from reduced optic nerve blood supply

Alpha blockers for prostate enlargement combine with this to lower blood pressure further, so that pairing needs planning.

Possible side effects

• Headache
• Flushing and warmth
• Blocked nose
• Indigestion
• A blue tint to vision or light sensitivity
• Dizziness
• Back ache

Two things that need help immediately

An erection lasting more than four hours. This is not something to wait out. After several hours the tissue begins to sustain permanent damage, and the window for treating it closes.

Sudden loss of vision or hearing, in one or both sides. Stop taking it and get seen urgently.

Both are rare. Both are measured in hours rather than days.

It can be an early warning

This part matters more than the tablet does.

The arteries supplying erectile tissue are narrow. Narrowing shows up there before it shows up in the wider coronary arteries — sometimes by several years.

So difficulty that developed gradually over months can be the first visible sign of vascular disease. That makes it an opportunity rather than only a problem: blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol are worth checking.

The picture is different if it came on suddenly, happens only in certain situations, and morning erections are still there. That pattern usually points to stress, exhaustion, a relationship, or a medicine you have started.

Ordering without prescription: how it works

Gel capsules need storing cool and dry, which is another argument for keeping a supply at home rather than carrying them around.

Pick the strength and the pack size, put in a delivery address, confirm. Couple of minutes, any time of day, no queue and no conversation accross a counter.

It goes out in plain packaging. No pharmacy name on the outside, nothing that hints at what is inside. How long delivery takes depends on where the parcel is headed.

On price it comes down to strength and pack size. Larger packs generally work out better per unit.

Delivery goes anywhere in the UK, in plain outer packaging with no logo and no product name on it. How long it takes depends on where it is heading and which service you picked. Prices are in pounds.
