Levitra Soft: chewable vardenafil

Free bonus

Chewable, and gentler on the eyes

Vardenafil is the one with the fewest visual effects, which matters if the blue tinge from sildenafil bothered you. In chewable form it also starts faster and needs nothing to wash it down. Without prescription, plain packaging. Chew it fully — do not swallow whole.

Why would someone pick this one?

The molecule. Vardenafil is more selective than sildenafil, which means less effect on the related enzyme in the retina. The blue tinge and light sensitivity that bother some men on sildenafil are much less common here.

The format. Chewable means no water, nothing to swallow, and a faster start because part of the dose is absorbed through the lining of the mouth.

If you tried sildenafil, found it worked but disliked the visual effect, this combination is a reasonable next step.

How the chewable form behaves

A swallowed tablet has to disintegrate, dissolve in stomach fluid, move into the intestine and be absorbed there. Stomach contents affect every stage.

Chewing starts dissolution immediately, and some of the dose enters the bloodstream through the mouth directly.

Faster onset, and less dependence on what you have eaten — useful, since vardenafil is already less food-sensitive than sildenafil.

Chewing it correctly

Chew thoroughly. Do not swallow whole.
Hold the dissolved material in the mouth briefly before swallowing.
No water needed.
Twenty to thirty minutes beforehand.
Once in twenty-four hours.

Swallowing it whole converts it into a slow ordinary tablet and removes every advantage of the format.

A note on strengths

Vardenafil is more potent per milligram than sildenafil, so the numbers on the box are smaller for a comparable effect.

Comparing figures accross different molecules tells you nothing. A lower number does not mean a weaker tablet.

The mechanism

Arousal causes nitric oxide release in the erectile tissue, producing a messenger that relaxes the smooth muscle in the small arteries. Blood flows in, the swelling tissue compresses the draining veins, and the blood stays.

PDE5 breaks the messenger down and the erection ends. Vardenafil blocks PDE5.

Arousal is required regardless of the format.

Nitrates: the one hard stop

This is the single line on the page with no room for interpretation.

Glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, nicorandil — anything taken for angina, including the spray carried for emergencies.

Together they can drop blood pressure to a dangerous level. Not mild dizziness. Circulatory collapse.

The same applies to amyl nitrite used recreationally, sold as poppers. That combination reaches emergency departments more often than anyone admits.

If you take anything in that group, this is out. No exceptions, no gap, no half tablet.

The heart rhythm point, specific to vardenafil

This distinguishes vardenafil from the others in the class and it is worth knowing.

It has a modest effect on the electrical recovery time of the heart — what is measured as the QT interval. On its own that is not usually a problem.

It becomes one in combination with other medicines that do the same thing, because the effects add.

Certain heart rhythm medicines, including amiodarone, sotalol and quinidine
Some antipsychotics
Certain antibiotics, particulary some macrolides and quinolones
Some antifungals
A few antidepressants

A known long QT interval, or a family history of sudden unexplained death, means this molecule is not the right choice. One of the alternatives is.

Alcohol

One or two drinks is usually fine. More works against you twice: blunting arousal at the level of the nervous system, and lowering blood pressure on top of what the tablet is doing.

A heavy night is a very common reason a dose gets blamed for something it did not cause.

Who should not use it

Recent heart attack or stroke
Unstable angina
Severe heart failure
Uncontrolled or very low blood pressure
Severe liver or kidney disease
Retinitis pigmentosa
Previous sudden vision loss from optic nerve problems
Known long QT interval

Possible side effects

Headache
Flushing
Nasal congestion
Indigestion
Dizziness
Back ache

Two things that need help immediately

An erection lasting more than four hours. Not something to wait out — after several hours the tissue begins to sustain permanent damage.

Sudden loss of vision or hearing, one side or both. Stop and get seen urgently.

Both rare. Both measured in hours.

Ordering without prescription: how it works

Chewables store well and need nothing taken with them, which suits keeping some at home.

Pick the strength and the pack size, put in a delivery address, confirm. Couple of minutes, any time of day, no queue and no conversation across a counter.

It goes out in plain packaging. No pharmacy name on the outside, nothing that hints at what is inside. How long delivery takes depends on where the parcel is headed.

On price it comes down to strength and pack size. Larger packs generally work out better per unit.

What you pay follows pack size and strength, shown in pounds next to the quantity options. Bigger packs come out lower per unit. A generic stays below the branded version with the same ingredient inside.
